Managing Lesson Progression

Enabling lesson progression for a particular classroom will make sure that learners read the lessons in the order as set by their instructors. Enabling this will ensure learners complete reading a lesson before accessing the next lesson. You can enable this if you want to be strict about the order in which learners access your content.

A learner has to completely read a lesson before he/she can access the next lesson on the Materials page of a classroom. This can help ensure that the learners understand the foundations before they move on to a higher level of concepts in that classroom.

This article will guide you on:

Learners view for lesson progression

If lesson progression is enabled for a classroom and a learner tries to access a lesson in that classroom without completely reading the previous lesson, then he / she will shown a message that "You have to complete reading the previous lessons before you can access this lesson". Let's understand this scenario with the help of the following example:

1. Following is a classroom (Artificial Intelligence) in which the instructor has enabled lesson progression.

2. Now let's take a scenario in which a learner of this classroom, tries to access a lesson ["Classical Mechanics" without completely reading the previous lesson(s) (in this case "Artificial Intelligence").

3. The learner will see the following message (as shown in the screenshots below) when he/she over hovers the "eye icon" or clicks the lesson title.

4. If lesson progression was not enabled, then the learner would be able to access the lesson "Rotary Motion" or any other lesson in any order.

5. But as lesson progression is enabled for the classroom, therefore learner will be able to access the lesson "Rotary Motion" only after he / she reads all the lesson pages of the previous lesson "Classical Mechanics".
