As an instructor, you can mark a published material (lesson, assignment and online quiz) as the current material. The current material will replace the existing Next to Read label for the learners. So learners will be able to quickly access the current material for their classrooms. We like to call this workflow as Currently Teaching.
A label will differentiate the section in which a material is marked as current and a label will also be present on the current material. You can also see the current material that is set for the classroom below the classroom's cover image. Let's see how you can set a material as a current material for a classroom.
You can only mark one material as the current material in a classroom.
This article will guide you on:
You can mark a lesson, assignment or an online quiz (not offline tests) as current material in a classroom. The current material will replace the existing Next to Read label for the learners. So learners will be able to quickly see the current material for their classrooms.
1. Click Materials of the required classroom to access that classroom's materials page.
2. On the Material page of the classroom, locate the required lesson, and click its gear icon to see the settings.
You can see the gear icon in both card and list view of a material.
3. Select Mark as Current Lesson from the settings list.
4. The lesson will be marked as the current lesson shortly and you will see a label on the lesson indicating the same.
Learners will be able to see the lesson as the Current Lesson in place of the next to do material in the classroom card on their homepage and in the Materials page of that classroom.
If a section (with a current material) is collapsed, a label will be present to differentiate it from other sections of the classroom.
1. Click Materials of the required classroom to access that classroom's materials page.
2. On the Material page of the classroom, locate the required assignment, and click its gear icon to see the settings.
3. Select Mark as Current Assignment from the settings list.
4. The assignment will be marked as the current assignment shortly and you will see a label on the assignment indicating the same.
Learners will be able to see the assignment as the Current Assignment in place of the next to do material in the classroom card on their homepage and in the Materials page of that classroom.
1. Click Materials of the required classroom to access that classroom's materials page.
2. On the Material page of the classroom, locate the required quiz, and click its gear icon to see the settings.
3. Select Mark as Current Quiz from the settings list.
4. The quiz will be marked as the current quiz shortly and you will see a label on the quiz indicating the same.
Learners will be able to see the quiz as the Current Quiz in place of the next to do material in the classroom card on their homepage and in the Materials page of that classroom.
1. As an instructor, when you set a Current Material in a classroom, learners get to see it at the top of their classroom view to easily get to the material. Similarly, you can see this shortcut as well in the classrooms in which a material is set as current. This would assist you in quickly seeing and accessing the current material, without scrolling through all the materials in different sections to find the material with the current material label.
2. Clicking the current label for a lesson will take you to its expanded view.
3. Whereas, clicking the label for an assignment or quiz will take you to its attempts view where you can see the learners' progress.
Take note that, unlike learners, you will see the current material label in the Posts and Materials tab of the classroom only.
1. Click Materials of the required classroom to access that classroom's materials page.
2. Select Mark as Current Quiz from the settings list of the material (in this case a quiz) that you wish unmark as the current material.
3. Once you unmark the material, the "Current Material" label will get removed for it.
Learners will now see the next to do material in the classroom card (in this case "Currently Reading") on their homepage and in the Materials page of that classroom.
If a classroom has an existing current material and you wish to mark a different material as the current material, you can do that directly by opening the settings of the material and marking it as the current material. The existing current material will be automatically unmarked as the current material and the new material will be marked as the current material. No need to first unmark a material and then mark another material. We hope this tip will save you some time :)
But keep in mind, at no point, more than one material can be marked as current material in a classroom.
