Unblocking Failed Logins

Reasons for blocking Users and IPs on your Teamie site

Users and IPs are blocked on Teamie in the following two situations:

  1. If incorrect password is entered by the user repeatedly. In this case, the user account being used and the IP address is logged.
  2. If incorrect username is entered by the user repeatedly. In this case, the IP address is logged.

If one or both of the aforementioned two scenarios happen, the respective user(s) will not be allowed to login to the Teamie site unless the failed logins are unblocked / cleared.

This flood / failed logins captures all failed attempts and should be cleared only if you are sure that valid users were blocked. This is for the safety of your site. Also, we do not keep any logs for a blocked IP once you remove it from the flood table on the Unblock failed logins page.

This option is available only for administrators.

Unblocking failed logins

1. To clear / unblock the failed logins, click Flood Unblock link under the "Manage Teamie" block to go the Unblock failed logins page.

2. On the Unblock failed logins page, you will see entries of usernames and IPs that are logged because of failed login attempts. You can also see which of those are blocked in the first column. Tick the record that you wish to unblock. You can also tick all the records at once by ticking the top left checkbox.

We block login by a user that has more than 5 failed login attempts (within six hours) or an IP address that has more than 50 failed login attempts (within one hour). For instance, in the following screenshot, you can see the count of the user has exceeded 5 and therefore a "Yes" is present under the "Blocked" column for that user.

Note: These settings are subject to change for different Teamie sites.

3. Click Clear flood. The block records will be unblocked and the users can login again.

If a user account is locked because of wrong password entries then he can try again after 6 hours and if IP is blocked then it will be released after 1 hour.
